Very frustrating. I wish there was a way to put regular Google on my "Go Edition" phone, (without going through 10 different headaches) even if it won't run as well! Please let us have the ability to try to use you're beautiful and original old Google Assistant? It would be one thing if it was just the assistant but you also have the go edition Gmail and Calendar that drives me crazy! I just want to use my original stuff even though I'm poor and I can't buy a phone that most others can...

Hi! I'm Randy Holzman. The main reason I gave the app only one star in my recent review is because the of lack of support for activating the assistant with "Hey Google" or "Ok Google" which is, in my opinion, a serious safety issue. I can't activate the assistant with voice, so the only way to get the assistant to respond is to touch the microphone icon, which is difficult while driving. I feel this version of the app is really lacking in functionality, should be hands free even with Go.

Hi Randy. Thank you for your feedback. Currently “Ok, Google” and “Hey Google” actions don’t work for Android Go phones. Please stay tuned for more information.

There's NO way to mute or shut off the voice responses of the GO version. So it will automatically and loudly read out whatever response it comes up with if you ask a question, even if the phone is on mute. I know how to disable it for regular Google Assistant, but that ability and setting seems to be totally cut out of this version. Please Google, it's a basic feature; you don't want a phone making noise at all times no matter what. Fix this.

Thanks for your review, Jim! The Google Assistant is enabled by default as one of the system apps and currently cannot be disabled for Android Go phones. We appreciate the feedback and we’ll pass it along to the team.
